Englefield Lecture

Professor William Whyte, FRHistS, FSA Professor of Social and Architectural History, University of Oxford gave an interesting and informative lecture entitied “The Church: buildings,  battles, and the idea of conservation since 1800”. The lecture, held in the imposing Long Gallery of Englefield House was enjoyed by an audience of around 70 members and guests and covered some of the great progress made in conservation as well as the harm done to church architecture.
